Management of the ECO District Metropolitan Parkway Corridor Project

(1) Grant submitted for NOAA Southeast Regional Research Grant for NEJI and AMSC ( $5 M; 5 year );monies directed to support operations and direct faculty member participants.

Project Overview

The proposed project will leverage the assets and experience of three collaborating partners: Center for Sustainable Communities (“CSC” – lead applicant), Black Sustainability, Inc. (“BSI” Statutory Partner (501c3 CBO)) and the Environmental Defense Fund (“EDF” – collaborating partner).  These partners will establish and operate a training institute (“EJ Citizen’s Leadership Academy( EJCLA)”) that will be principally and structurally similar to the EPA’s “EJ Academy,” in which the founder and President of CSC (Garry Harris) has participated on four occasions. 

The  EJCLA will be based on the EPA’s tried and true EJ Academy (EJA) model, with modifications/ addition of the following new components/areas of focus to ensure our academy fits the specific objectives of this NOFO, and needs of our targeted disadvantaged communities.

2. Building A Weather Ready Nation for All/ Climate Interactive across the Southeast using tools and techniques and strategies to transform communities through data science driven fools to explore local hazards, capacities and vulnerabilities that could led to action planning to mitigate climate impacts
